The Daphne Child Programme

February 17, 2026

The Daphne Child programme is a European Union initiative led by Eurochild

Eurochild is a European network of organisations and individuals working to promote children’s rights and improve child wellbeing across Europe. It focuses on influencing EU policy, strengthening national child protection systems, and amplifying children’s voices in decision-making.

The Daphne-CHILD programme supports impactful local interventions that enhance the lives of children and young people in 9 European countries. €1.3 million in sub-grants has been distributed across: Bulgaria (6 projects), Greece (5 projects), Hungary (4 projects), Ireland (5 projects), Portugal (6 projects), Romania (5 projects), Serbia (6 projects), Spain (5 projects), and Ukraine (6 projects).

Children’s meaningful participation is at the heart of our programme.

Every project we fund will integrate children’s perspectives in both the design and implementation phases, ensuring their voices shape the activities aimed at protecting and empowering children and young people.

Objectives

  1. Combatting Violence with Children and for Children: We address violence against children and young people by funding interventions that involve children directly, aiming to create safer and more supportive environments in the nine participating countries.
  2. Building Local Capacity and Networks: We focus on developing the capacities of local CSOs, fostering a vibrant cross-country learning network for peer exchange and mutual growth. This network will enhance the ability of these organisations to effectively tackle violence against children.
  3. Informing Regional Policy: By sharing the insights and outcomes of our program with national and European decision-makers, we aim to influence the development of integrated child protection systems across Europe. Our work will contribute to broader regional efforts led by the EU and the Council of Europe to address both direct and systemic forms of violence against children.
